Fabric Development Manager, Star USA

Overview

The Fabric Development Manager will source and develop fabric based on brand identity, trend and price point for John Varvatos Star USA; key areas of focus are soft jackets, outerwear, bottoms and shirtings.  This position reports to the Star USA Design Director with an in direct reporting relationship with the Senior Vice President of Production.

Job Responsibilities

- Work with designer to develop and initiate seasonal fabric direction

- Work closely with merchandising and production to ensure key price points and merchandising seasonal directions are clearly developed per classification

- Implement all fabric development with mills once approved

- Work on fabric direction for each delivery

- Research trends in the market and interpret within price point

- Meet with fabric vendors to source, develop and select fabrics  

- Travel to various fabric vendors overseas  

- Work with production departments to stay up to date on available product and sources used within the Company

- Work with suppliers on prices, minimums, surcharges, fabric width, and fabric content

- Update and maintain fabric database system and related paperwork with required information

- Request swatches and source sub-proto yardage when necessary

- Maintain precise and detailed records of all fabric developments and wash developments from initial adoption through to pre- production

- Approve all lab dips

- Work with suppliers and production departments on any pre-production quality issues and to resolve bulk production issues

- Maintain fabric library

- Regular internal communication with design and production teams to exchange information


Position Requirements

- Must have understanding of men's tailored clothing fabric development

- Must have understanding of men's sportswear fabric development

- Strong knowledge in developing fabrics with mills both in Europe and Asia

- Strong background/knowledge in woven and knit construction and development

- Comprehension of the JV brand aesthetic and DNA


Position Qualifications

- Well-developed communication (written & verbal) and organizational skills

- Resourceful, hands-on with a sense of urgency

- Must be very organized and detail oriented

- Great time management and ability to multi-task

- Ability to work in a team environment


Education and Training

- Knowledge of MS Office, Proficient in Excel. Knowledge of PLM and Photoshop preferred

- Degree in textile design or technology a plus


Experience

- Minimum 8+ years’ experience with fabric sourcing and development

Overview

The Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for managing the flow of all samples for both John Varvatos Collection and John Varvatos Star USA, in order to garner the most editorial press coverage possible for the brand, while ensuring that other departments have access to samples to fulfill their needs.  This position will report to the Manager of Public Relations.

The Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for managing the flow of all samples for both John Varvatos Collection and John Varvatos Star USA, in order to garner the most editorial press coverage possible for the brand, while ensuring that other departments have access to samples to fulfill their needs.  This position will report to the Manager of Public Relations.


Job Responsibilities


Sample Trafficking and Editorial:

- Responsible for the transition of samples in showroom from season to season

- Responsible for archiving samples each season with the design team

- Manage sample trafficking for both collection and USA company-wide through Fashion GPS, as well as between PR agencies in London, and Los Angeles on an ongoing basis

- Execute national editorial coverage and product placement

- Facilitate editorial appointments and manage credit requests

- Assist with production of seasonal PR Presentations

- Order and maintain all PR supplies - garment bags, shopping bags, hangers, boxes, tissue paper, etc.

- Manage PR department interns


Editorial Tracking:

- Manage tracking, digitizing, and documentation of all press


Advertising/Lifestyle Shoots/E-Commerce Shoots:

- Manage clothing preparation for seasonal ad and catalog shoots, as well as press events

- Assist in the documentation and labeling of run of show, handing off samples

- Assist in pulling samples for E-Commerce product shoots


Seeding:

- Assist PR Manager with seasonal Celeb & Editor seeding/gifting, and holiday gifting


Celebrity:

- Assist PR Manager with celebrity dressing opportunities as needed for PR Agencies (LA and  London) and with Retail Studio Services in Soho and LA


Fashion Show:

- Track all Fashion Show RSVPs and compile final list, incorporating wholesale, licensee and production Invites

- Assist as required in Milan

- Manage check-in process and re-labeling of samples arriving back from fashion show/Milan showroom


General:

- Manage front of house and guest list for all retail events

- Work the door managing Check-in for all NY-based events

- Assist in the holiday gifting process


Position Requirements

- Extremely Proficient in Fashion GPS

- Knowledge of PR standards and practices

- Requires aptitude for men’s fashion and sincere desire to create fashion editor relationships and be strong player in that community

- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

- Strong attention to detail and delivering high quality results

- Strong work ethics

- Resourceful, hands-on, and able to sense urgency and multi-task


Education and Training

- Bachelor’s Degree required in Marketing, Business, Communications or related fields

The Collections & AR Analyst will work closely with the Credit & Collections Manager to develop best practice functions and maintain, oversee and evaluate effectiveness of credit and collections and cash applications policies and procedures for both our domestic and international business.

Job Responsibilities

- Collections of accounts (specialty stores, department stores and off-price accounts) within assigned portfolio

- Maintain open operational chargebacks from point of receipt to point of resolution

- Review/analyze/research chargebacks reporting substantial/repetitive charges to management

- Utilize systems, customer websites, customer vendor guides to resolve chargebacks and identify potential issues

- Cash Applications; Posting and reconciliation of cash deposits, applying write-offs and off-sets (promotional and operational) as submitted by the Credit Manager

- Maintain following both daily/monthly; cash receipts analysis, A/R reconciliation and daily deposit

Assist Credit & Collections Manager in following areas

- Review of new customer credit worthiness

- Perform credit investigations including D&B reports, bank and trade references, examine payment experience as well as utilizing networking resources. Develop processes and procedures for evaluating customer financials and setting and changing credit lines/limits, as well as credit holds; implement liens as necessary to major delinquent accounts as approved

- Monitoring existing accounts on a regular basis for credit limit adjustments communicate all credit related issues to appropriate parties

- Check for credit viability on requests for extended terms, and evaluate various adjustments or exception documents

- Analyze delinquent accounts and prepare report on highest risk accounts including recommendations for resolution

- Reconcile transactions and balances to maintain accurate accounts

- Initiate credits and adjustments to accounts within company policy limits

- Assist in developing sound, acceptable credit policies. Monitor violations of credit policies, provide analysis, conclusion and recommendations, present findings and suggest actions/penalties to be taken when appropriate

- Work collaboratively to facilitate the required compliance and regulatory assessment of new a- ccounts and annual review of existing accounts

- Other duties and special projects assigned as needed

Job Responsibilities

- Participates in initial concept meetings to gain understanding of the new collection seasonally  

- Manage creation and maintenance of all development charts to achieve target prices and margins

- Purchase trims for proto and sales samples with Design direction

- Monitor and track raw materials for trials & proto samples

- Issue Design related memos for team (i.e. proto additions and cancellations, trim changes)

- Work with agents/factories to prepare flash cost and build programs based on merchandising requirements

- Create sample purchase orders and check all line sheets for accuracy

- Create and maintain invoice tracker seasonally once purchase orders are placed to monitor budgeted costs and spending for the season

- Line list set up for market opening, including initial setup, correct layout and double check all details

- Monitor and track all sales samples for line opening

- Manage the set up and entry of all Raw Material and Style Master details into RLM

- Review and prepare line for handoff to Design upon receipt, including check of all details

- Prepare, update and analyze all costing for review with appropriate parties for line opening

- Place Bulk Commitments to factories and establish delivery flow of bulk goods against sales requirements

- Confirm wash/finish details with Design to final approval with factory

- Manage the updating and finalization of style master to reflect updated prices as well as fully edited line list

- Prepare samples for fitting for production with proper tags and factory details

- Analyze and communicate issues with team and overseas factories

- Monitor and track flow for on time delivery

- Create a structure of accountabilities and tasks for team

- Manage and train towards independent execution at increased levels of expertise

- Manage workload across team creatively and flexibly to provide maximum opportunity for division and individual
