Roger Waters, The Wall…Live at MSG

October 22nd, 2010 | Posted By John | Comments (1) | Categories News
Although I know seeing Roger Waters perform The Wall at MSG was a mind blowing journey of the soul, I am not quite certain I will ever have the right words to fully encompass the magnitude of this show.  It left me, in all positive senses of the word, speechless.

I hope the photos I shot will give you a glimpse into the dark adventure we all took that night at the Garden.......

10 Year Anniversary Party, Sept. 11th

September 23rd, 2010 | Posted By John | Comments (3) | Categories News
We've done some pretty amazing live shows at our 315 Bowery store, but I have to say, our 10 Year Anniversary bash turned into the best kind of mayhem a live show can create.

No champagne, no caviar, not even enough a.c. to keep the place cool.  Nothing but loud music, a sweaty crowd, and an excess rock n' roll.

John Varvatos 10 Year Anniversary Party, 315 Bowery NYC

Alejandro Escovedo Band & Ian Hunter Band

The explosive Alenjandro Escovedo & David Pulkingham (left) -  and Ian Hunter (right).

Cherie-Currie

I'm your ch ch ch ch ch cherry bomb!! The amazing and still sexy as hell, Cherie Currie.

The Darling-Stilettos

Sometimes words fall short of what an image evokes.....These are The Darling Stilettos and yes, we did check their IDs...

Jesse-Malin & The St. Mark's Social

Jesse Malin & The St. Mark's Social....the best kind of artists there are.  No sound check, no car service, no rider....just roles up from a show in NJ hours before, hits the stage and kills it!!

Black-Country-Communion

The premier of Black Country Communion - in a word - POWERFUL! At left, Joe Bonamassa - At right, a dear friend, Glenn Hughes.  The drummer is the highly talented Jason Bonham.

Franky-Perez

Sometimes you get lucky enough to see a star being born...I am telling you, keep your eyes on Franky Perez.  Intense, raw, edgy and completely over taken by the musical trans he is in while playing...he unleashed  performances that took the wind out of me.

Handsom-Dick-Manitoba-

It's time.......it's time to....KICK OUT THE JAMS MOTHER FUCKER!! Handsome Dick Manitoba on the mic.

Wayne-Kramer

The coolest EVER...Wayne Kramer of MC5.  Electrifying. He performs with such authority and yet at the same time, such an ease,  it's as if the guitar were an extension of his own body.

Wayne-Kramer

Who do you think Tom Morello got his moves from?

Perry-Farrell-

Perry Farrell never ceases to amaze me.  If you aren't engaged in his cosmic energy when he's performing...you have no soul.  The man can capture an audience with just one note.

Alice-Cooper

Come on...it's Alice Cooper.  The guy flies in the day of the show and then out on an early morning flight the next.  No nonsense.  I've found the longer you've been in the business, the more gracious you are.  Lesson to be learned....anyone can perform but only a few can do it with legendary style.

ZZ-Top

And speaking of legends...the kings of cool ZZ Top.  The beards are just where it begins...

Donovan-Leitch

Camp Freddy - Matt Sorum, Donovan Leitch, Franky Perez, Nick Maybury, & Chris Wyse. The unbelievable house band kept it up for 5 rock filled hours.
