JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:    Merchandise Allocator
Department:    Corporate Retail
Reports To:    Retail Planning Manager

Purpose and Scope
The Merchandise Allocator will be responsible for working closing with the broader Planning team to develop and execute allocation and in-season management strategies for directly owned Stores in accordance with the merchandise financial plan, warehouse inventory needs, and inventory turn objectives. Our ideal incumbent will ensure that each store has the correct inventory level to support their sales and merchandising needs.

Job Responsibilities

•    Allocate merchandise at a department, style and size level based on analysis of historical data and current sales trend by location to achieve allocation objectives 
•    Develop and manage allocation/reallocation strategies and scales for each product category by store location with view to maximize sales opportunity and minimize inventory liability
•    Analyze climate, store type and midweek sales projections and use the findings to take appropriate actions to ensure the optimal inventory level in each store
•    Participate in the establishment of replenishment metrics for key SKUs/categories. Monitor results and recommend needed adjustments.
•    Recommend and conduct store transfers, consolidations and buyback based on inventory levels. 
•    Trouble-shoot and resolve allocation issues in a timely manner with the warehouse teams
•    Forecast weekly inventory flows into the warehouses to support workload targets
•    Build strong relationships with the Field, Buying and Planning teams, and be an active participant in cross-functional meetings
•    Develop strong relationships with distributors and supply chain managers to make sure that products are delivered on time in the right amounts
•    Run weekly/monthly reports and business analysis; perform additional duties as assigned

•    Strong communication (written & verbal) and organizational skills
•    Resourceful, hands-on, and able to sense urgency
•    Ability to react to constantly changing marketplace

Education and Training
•    Bachelor’s Degree required 

Experience
•    Minimum 1-2 years of experience
•    Extensive knowledge and experience in merchandise, assortment and financial planning 
•    Combination of department store/vertical planning expertise a plus; prior retail experience preferred
•    RLM and/or KWI experience a plus
