Job Title:        Web Designer
Department:        Digital & E-Commerce 
Reports To:        Director Creative Director 

Purpose and Scope
Responsible for executing designs across email, web, and mobile for John Varvatos. Our ideal candidate will be interactive-focused with a good sense of clean, user-friendly design. He or she will work within established style guides to design within the evolving site structure, updating and pushing the current parameters of the site. This includes the homepage, product list pages, product detail pages, brand content pages, and additionally effective emails. The Web Designer should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines while working on multiple projects at once, with great attention to detail. 

Job Responsibilities
•    Site updates including: Homepage, Product listing pages, Product Category pages, Blog layouts 
•    Banner ad creation
•    Email design and final asset delivery, including animated gifs 
•    Minor retouching and post-production work
•    Constant site analysis to optimize user experience, working with third party vendors to enhance site
•    Stay abreast of key industry trends, best practices, competitive insights and emerging digital/social media/marketing /e-commerce technologies. 
•    Identify and propose new opportunities appropriate for the brand that could improve the site experience & conversion rate
•    Creating gifs and videos with light video/animation skills
•    Supporting design of: new site pages, content sections, website UX, and category layouts to support seasonal and ongoing site optimization
•    Opportunity to art direct and edit digital photo shoots and videos 

Education and Training:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or Visual Communications
•    2-3 years’ experience as a digital designer at an apparel/beauty/luxury company or digital agency
•    Detailed understanding of interaction design, web and mobile standards and best practices within the space
•    Experience designing for mobile first, experience with responsive and adaptive design and usability
•    Knowledge of interactive and motion design
•    Experience with UX and IA and working alongside a UX team
•    Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc)
•    Knowledge of code (HTML5/CSS) in regards to pushing design within code parameters
•    Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
•    Must be incredibly detail oriented
•    Comfort and understanding of a production-based role  
•    Must be a great team player
